What is the GOM Scan 1 3D measurement scanner?

The ZEISS GOM Scan 1 is a portable, high resolution 3D scanner that captures up to 6 million points per scan using Blue Light fringe projection and a stereo camera principle. Available in three measuring volumes — MV 100, MV 200, and MV 400 — it is paired with ZEISS INSPECT software for reverse engineering, 3D printing preparation, and part inspection. This sensor mounts on a desk stand or tripod and the part is placed in front of it.

Features

Due to the stereo camera principle, the sensor recognizes changing ambient conditions during operation and can compensate for these changes. To ensure the quality of the measuring data, the software of the sensor continuously monitors the sensor status.

The projection unit of GOM Scan 1 is based on Blue Light Technology. Since the sensor works with narrowband blue light, interfering ambient light can be filtered during image acquisition. Due to its powerful light source, short measuring times can be achieved.

ZEISS INSPECT lets you smooth, thin and refine polygon meshes, fill holes or extract curvature lines, achieving very accurate meshes that can be saved in many common formats. The best part: our smart polygonization. It creates a mesh with highest detail while keeping the mesh size easy-to-handle.

Different applications have different requirements. GOM Scan 1 is available in three versions with the measuring volumes: MV 100, MV 200 and MV 400. With all three sensors you can rely on high-precision measurements for small to medium-sized objects.

What is the difference between the ZEISS GOM Scan 1 and ZEISS ATOS Q?

GOM Scan 1 and ATOS Q are both Blue Light fringe projection scanners, but they serve different applications. Each GOM Scan 1 ships with one fixed measuring volume — MV 100, MV 200 or MV 400 — chosen at purchase It is a fast scanner for medium sized parts.

 

ATOS Q is a high precision measurement system with six interchangeable lenses covering a wider measurement range and higher point counts (up to 12 million points per scan).

How a free GOM Scan 1 evaluation works in Malaysia

Every specification was measured under ideal conditions. Your parts are not. Surface finish, tolerance band, geometry that hides from the sensor, deep pockets, undercuts, features you can see but can’t reach with a probe — these decide whether this instrument works for you, and none of them appear on a datasheet. That’s why we evaluate before you buy, on your parts, at no cost.

 

Alloytool runs three offices — Selangor, Penang and Johor — fast & quick response. At least two hold AUKOM certification, the independent European standard for metrology competence, and they’re backed by an in-house software and automation engineer who handles the ZEISS INSPECT side: reporting templates, data workflow, and integration with whatever you already run.
 
Most of our engineers came from measurement equipment backgrounds before ZEISS, so the conversation starts from your part & factory settings, not from a brochure.

  1. A brief consultation — size, material, surface finish, tolerance and the features you need to measure.
  2. We work out whether this equipment suits your requirment. If a 3D scanner, VMM or tactile CMM is the better answer, we’ll say so before booking anything.
  3. A team arrives with the instrument; desk stand and rotation table. Setup needs a bench and a power point.
  4. We scan your part with your team watching, and build the mesh live in ZEISS INSPECT.
  5. Where you supply CAD, we run the comparison and walk through the deviation result with you on the spot.

Sometimes a site visit takes longer to arrange than the evaluation itself. A virtual session gets you the same walkthrough over a screen share — the demo, software, the workflow, the reporting output, and answers to whatever your engineers want to interrogate. It’s the fastest way to reach a shortlist before you commit anyone’s afternoon, and it works well when the people who need convincing sit in different places.

Controlled area, customer NDA, plant shutdown — plenty of reasons a visitor is inconvenient. Ship the part to us instead. We scan it, run the comparison against your CAD, and return the mesh and the report. Useful when you want data in hand before you bring the wider team in.

For a genuine purchasing evaluation, we’ll consider placing a unit with you for a trial period so your own operators can run it on production parts, unsupervised, under real conditions. Availability depends on the model and current inventory, so ask early rather than late.

Everything produced during an evaluation belongs to you — scan data, meshes, deviation reports, the lot. We don’t retain it, and we don’t use your parts or results as reference material without written agreement. If confidentiality is a condition on your side, tell us and we’ll work to your NDA.
